"The Artist"
The mostly silent film "The Artist" led the Golden Globe nominations with six nominations overall - best motion picture - comedy or musical; best performance by an actor in a motion picture - comedy or musical (Jean Dujardin); best performance by an actress in a supporting role in a motion picture - comedy or musical (Bernice Bejo); best director; best screenplay; and best original score.

"My Week With Marilyn"
The tale of Marilyn Monroe's trip to England, "My Week With Marilyn," won three nominations: best motion picture - comedy or musical; best performance by an actress in a motion picture - comedy or musical (Michelle Williams); and best performance by an actor in a supporting role in a motion picture - comedy or musical (Kenneth Branagh).

"50/50"
"50/50," the story of a man who has a 50 percent change of dying from cancer, received two nominations- best motion picture - comedy or musical and best performance by an actor in a motion picture - comedy or musical (Joseph Gordon Levitt).

"Midnight in Paris"
Woody Allen's off-beat romantic comedy "Midnight in Paris" received four nominations: best motion picture - comedy or musical; best performance by an actor in a motion picture - comedy or musical (Owen Wilson); best director; and best screenplay.

"Bridesmaids"
The female-driven comedy "Bridesmaids" received two nominations - best motion picture - comedy or musical and best performance by an actress in a motion picture - comedy or musical (Kristen Wiig).

"The Descendants"
"The Descendants," the story of a beleaguered father in Hawaii, received five nominations: best motion picture - drama; best performance by an actor in a motion picture - drama (George Clooney); best performance by an actress in a supporting role (Shailene Woodley); best director (Alexander Payne); and best screenplay.

"Moneyball"
"Moneyball" received three nominations: best motion picture - drama; best performance by an actor in a motion picture - drama (Brad Pitt); and best screenplay.

"The Help"
The southern drama "The Help" received four nominations: best motion picture - drama; best performance by an actress in a motion picture - drama (Viola Davis); and best performance by an actress in a supporting role (Jessica Chastain and Octavia Spencer).

"Hugo"
Martin Scorsese's "Hugo" is nominated for best motion picture - drama and best director (Martin Scorsese).

"Ides of March"
"The Ides of March" is nominated for four Golden Globes: best motion picture - drama; best performance by an actor in a motion picture - drama (Ryan Gosling); best director (George Clooney); and best screenplay.

"War Horse"
Stephen Spielberg's war epic "War Horse" is nominated for best motion picture - drama and best original score.

"J. Edgar"
The J. Edgar Hoover biopic received a nomination for best performance by an actor in a motion picture - drama (Leonardo DiCaprio).

"Shame"
The NC-17 story of a man's struggle with sex addiction, "Shame," recieved a nomination for best performance by an actor in a motion picture - drama (Michael Fassbender).

"Albert Nobbs"
Glen Close's passion project "Albert Nobbs" received a nomination for best performance by an actress in a motion picture -drama (Glen Close) and best performance by an actress in a supporting role (Janet McTeer).

"The Iron Lady"
Meryl Streep's portrayal of Margaret Thatcher in "The Iron Lady" earned her a nomination for best performance by an actress in a motion picture - drama.
