I am not sure, how exactly they call it in Chennai, but as for me, Tollywood is nothing but AP and Tamil Nadu movies.

In Tamil Nadu there is one actor, I am sure he is taking movies for himself, and I have a doubt that his movies are released in the cinemas, but if you want to laugh, just watch his videos.
His name is Sam Anderson

sorry, but we south indians , have not only Tollywood and Kollywood but MALLUWOOD as well!!! The most famous mallu actors are: Mohanlal
Mohanlal was born on May 21, 1960(which incidentally makes him a Taurean, and he seems to fit the bill) in Pathanamthitta district of Kerala State (India) to Sri Viswanathan Nair and Smt. Santhakumari. He also had an elder brother named Pyare Lal. In his mother's own words, 'quite, a very quite child' is how we can characterize young Mohanlal. http://movies.bizhat.com/actors/mohanlal.php Mammootty
Mammootty is widely considered in southern film circles as masculinity epitomized. His profound looks, baritone voice and thick moustache underline his qualities of manliness. But four national awards, five State awards and five Filmfare awards that he had won for best acting assert that more than his looks it is his acting prowess that had won him wider appreciation and recognition. http://movies.bizhat.com/actors/mammootty.php The latest mallu movies http://movies.bizhat.com/index.php

Popular mallu actresses are Bhavana, Navya Nair, Kavya Madhavan, Shobhana
Bhavana born as Karthika on June 6th, 1986 in Thrissur, Kerala is a wonderful South Indian film actress, who won numerous awards including Filmfare and Kerala State Award for her amazing acting talents. Bhavana was born to Asst. Cinematographer, G. Balachandran and his wife Pushpa. Bhavana has one brother named Jayadev, who is currently living in Canada. Bhavana dreamt of becoming a film director but as destiny had its way, she became the hot South Indian actress. Bhavana began her film career with a Malayalam movie, 'Nammal' in 2002. 'Nammal' became a big hit and Bhavana's performance in the movie was critically acclaimed by the critics and the movie goers. Within no time Bhavana became a big-time actress in South Indian movies and went on to act along side the biggest stars in Malayalam and Tamil film industries, like Mohanlal, Mammootty, Jayaram, Suresh Gopi, Dileep, Prithviraj, Jayasurya, and opposite Madhavan, Bharath, Srikanth in Tamil movies. With immense acting talents to her credit, Bhavana, the beautiful actress is looking for meatier roles in movies and feels her acting talents were yet to be fully exploited by the directors. Bhavana is said to be a disciplined actress who stand by her ideals. She recently allegededly refused to act opposite Simbu in 'Kettavan' fearing that his tainted image in the film industry might rub off on her.
Navya Nair, the refreshing entrant has already bagged a special place in the heart of the Malayalam Film industry. This girl seems to have great belief in numerology as she has changed her name to Navya instead of Dhanya hoping for a better luck. Trained in dance, Navya Nair has been a hyper active teenager, whooping up at youth festivals and stage shows. She has won the honour of Kala Thilakam in the youth festival of Aleppey district, Kerala for her exceptional talent. With her first movie ‘Ishtam’, opposite Dileep she attained admiration by winning the hearts of the Malayalees. Her third film Ranjit's Nandanam opposite Pritviraj established herself as one of the most promising of the new-generation actresses. She bagged the Kerala State Award for the Best Actress in 2002 for the film Nandanam and again in 2005 for her performance in films Kanne Madanguka and Saira. Daughter of Mr. Rajan, working with the Telecom Subdivision and Mother Veena, a teacher with the M.S.M High Secondary school, Navya was a 12th student at M.S.M High secondary school when she entered film industry. Now with eight rollicking hits like Mazhathullikilukam, Nandanam, Kunjikoonan, Kalyanaraman, Chathikkatha Chandu etc She is also showing that she knows the physics of success very well. She stepped to Tamil film through 'Azhagiya Theeyee' which made a good impact in the minds of Tamil audience also. The local media is already projecting her as the next number one heroine.

Shobhana who amerged as one of the hottest film sensations in India after winning the highest accolade for a film Actress-The National Award for best Actress-however has been front -runner for almost a decade in Malayalam With a legacy and family tradition in films (as the nice of the famous Travancore sisters -Lalitha,Padmini and Ragini),her entry into celluloid was not surprising. But what was outstanding is her enduring brilliance which has been dazzling film goers for than a decade Shobhana,a noted exponent of classical dance, made her heroine debut in Balachandra Menon's film April 18,which was a box office hit. However, she was catapulted to the dizzy heights of stardom when she paired opposite Mammootty in one of the all time hits Kanamarayathu.Since then there was no looking back for her.She has been going places. Now at the heights of superstardom, and all South Indian leading heroes, and string of blockbusters,it seems she has no more heights Biblography Shobana was introduced to films by Hema Malinis mother, Jaya Chakravarthy, who spotted her with her aunt and one of the Travancore sisters, dancer-actress Padmini. Shobana is also an accomplished Bharatanatyam dancer who runs a dance school and has worked on collaborative ventures with the likes of tabla maestro Zakir Hussain, Vikku Vinayakram and Mandolin Srinivas.. Her recitals abroad include those at the World Malayalee convention, in the United States in 1985 and 1995, in Kuala Lumpur before the King and Queen of Malaysia, numerous cities in the United States, Europe, South East Asia and Australia. Shobana has performed in several Music and Dance Festivals in India. She has had the distinction of inaugurating the dance and music season in Madras in 1992 at the Music Academy - the bastion of classical art. She has also performed at the nationally acclaimed Surya Festival in Trivandrum, Kerala in 1994, 1995, 1996 and 1997.As a Bhartanatyam dancer, Shobana is renowned for her fine dedication to the classical art form. She is known to possess an exquisite understanding of the Abhinaya, a clarity of line and a strong rhythmic command of the idiom. In 1994, Shobana founded Kalarpana with the objective of committing herself to the propagation of the classical arts. The aim of Kalarpana is to organize annual festivals throughout India. This will include performances of nationally and globally known artistes to help raise funds that will be ploughed back into training talented artistes who are financially insecure. Under its umbrella, Kalarpana would like to extend its support to the handicapped and the environmental movement. This work was initiated in 1994 by organizing a remarkably successfully evening of classical music and dance under the title of 'Bharatam'.
