Smetanka, I had been practising Theravada Buddhism for more than 10 years... ...and when I came here to LA I was missing talking to Buddhist monks and visiting them in there places... ...so as soon as I came to know about that place I wanted to go there and check it out... But as I said I found out that Chines Buddhism is different... ...what I mean to say that in every place it becomes a part of a couture... While talking to one of the nuns there (they have nuns there, not monks, maybe that's why I didn't feel being that worm there ) I couldn't even figure out what tradition that Buddhism belong to... ...usually just looking at monks/nuns robes u can know that, but there they were not wearing traditional Buddhist colors (yellow, orange, saffron, different shades of brown and so on) so I really didn't get in touch with something I already knew it was rather something new for me... I'm missing sounds of prayers I've heard in Tibetan Buddhist temples and simplicity of Theravada Buddhism... Now I'm writing about Buddhism in a separate topic so u r welcome to ask any question... I know when u talk about things like that it could be too much of information for somebody who doesn't know much about it... ...so don't be afraid just to ask any "stupid questions" that come into your mind... | |
