| Hey Owls, as I have a focus in the Dalai Lama at the moment, I remembered that the Bollywood movie "Ashoka" is dedicated to him. The movie is starring Shahrukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor. Has anyone here also watched the movie? What I think about the movie: For me, there is much to much violence in the movie. I'd be much more interested in Ashoka's life and deeds as a Buddhist. Ashoka turns to a Buddhist monch at the end of the movie. The movie ends with a touching quote: - Quote :
- My destiny is going to be that of a traveller's
who is completing his journey. And today I start my journey. A journey of love, peace and non-violence. Cheers, Eule

| I've seen this movie years ago...didn't like it much...was expecting something different. - Eule wrote:

| Well, I understand you. I just flipped through the chapters to get a small impression and I just liked the quote at the end. Do you know if there is a movie about Ashoka's Buddhist life?
Cheers, Eule | |

| Yeh, I too have watched the movie. During the time the buddhism was on the verge of propagation. You can see certain glimps of the era in the Vajayanti mala and Sunil Dutt starer 'Amrapali'.
Ashoka was a great worrier throughout his life and concur many battles. After the kalinga War he was so distracted and affected by the killings that he decided to adopt non-violence and seek true wisdom for rest of his life. His son and daughter propagated the religion in Srilanka and north east Asian region.
