What qualities would you like your life partner to have?

I think for me it was important to be understood and supported......but we'll talk more about everything here...

u know when at school i didnt think of any qualities at all - i just thought: let him only love me, all the rest things wud not be so important...just an ideal life proves it all to be much more complicated...

I always wished for someone who could take me just for what I am...admire, understand and love me for what I am in real...thats all! Fortunately I found her.

Nobody is perfect here..and one can never ask for enough....so it is better to avoid all that....what matters most is how well the couple compliments each other and make a strong team.

Reliability, loyalty, honesty, kindness, sensitivity but most importantly my ideal life partner should have a heart. And a brain won't hurt too. Lastly - good looks is a quality that I appreciate.

I think I know what you are talking about...I used to fall in love with guys who couldn't be in a relationship, or it was not possible to create a relationship with them that would work...yes, sometimes love just gives u a lot of pain if the person you are in love with doesn't love you the way you would like them to or if there is no future for two of you to be together...

Hey, all... My first post here, and I thought this to be a compelling topic...

I think, first of all, a person must know who THEY are, and what they offer the other person, before asking, "what can you offer ME?" A small difference, but an important one, I believe...

An example: an online friend (from Ireland) is courting several attractive ladies in Kiev. He cannot seem to get any of them to take him seriously... He looks at them, but unfortunately, he fails to consider what HE can offer THEM. Oh, he looks at their bodies, he considers how their makeup looks... and what kind of personalities they have, but I asked him, what do YOU have, that they want? He was totally baffled!

I took three years, in this... introspection, I guess you could call it. I realized that I had some definite merits... and some VERY definite flaws. After this... I started to consider what I needed, in my other half...

And lucky for me, I found her. And we're married.

So let me describe her...

She's very intelligent, very smart. She thinks about options very carefully, often taking a long time to consider all possibilities. But, when she has made her decision, she moves quickly and decisively.

She's funny, and sees humor in the odd little situations about life. And she really enjoys a good joke (even one that is a bit... umm... vulgar ).

She is highly educated, driven to succeed at EVERYTHING she does, yet, when she's at home, she doesn't want to be the manager, but a wife and a lover...

She's a romantic at heart, loves romantic movies...

She's strong... so strong, and sometimes so stubborn, that I feel that I'm gonna tear my hair out of my head in frustration... But while that stubborn nature is sometimes a weakness, it is also a great source of strength... Because she's smart enough and strong enough, to stop me from making a stupid move...

She has a sense of wisdom about life... knows that life is often not fair, and sometimes unpleasant, but... She still smiles, even when life isn't perfect...

We think so much alike, that misunderstandings are always a surprise, and we always laugh after we realize we were both so silly to be frustrated about something so small...

We have understanding and respect, we work as a team... and while we often differ in our opinions (sometimes strongly disagreeing), we never go to bed angry...

In short... I found the person with the qualities I had hoped for... There is an old saying, "be careful what you wish for, you might GET it..." I found her... and while it's sometimes difficult...? I wouldn't change a THING.

Hey all,

I was really impressed by Eric's post. It showed me that you can find your life partner. All of us have some weaknesses but if we love our partner's weaknesses then we do not want to change him/her anymore. We just love him/her for what he is.

Actually, I do not think anymore what kind of guy I would like to have (ok, ok - the list follows ), I rather think that before finding a guy who might fit to me, I would like to have calmness in my mind. I just feel that I do not want to have a partner at the moment. I enjoy being alone now .

Ok, about the list : Finally, I just want to find a person I can share happiness with.

Of course I could point out a list here about having a good heart, good looks (from my individual point of view - I think your life partner will always be the most good looking person for you in the world ), being intelligent, loving nature & people, loving travelling, spontaneous, do not judging about anything in the world, loving children, having a huge inner child, and of course i do not want a pantywaist . I want a man . Finally, sensitivity is really important for me, as I am really sensitive by myself. Well, and I suppose that probably the whole view of life should probably quite match - because I try to live in the presence as much as I can do it now (I am really comfortable with it at the moment). Well, finally, spirituality is really important for me. And I would be sad if my partner could not understand in any way what it means for me.. Well, finally, I love philosophical discussions .

Ok, that is what I am looking for. Do not say it is to much. Because hey: Therefore I have my dreams. And hey, who knows? Maybe somehow, someday, somewhere (as the famous quote from "West Side Story" says...)

1st what came on my mind - is a person with whom I can discuss everything.

but then I recollected that I had person with whom I talked a lot about many things but he couldnt act up to his words.

He could talk a lot but actions were different.


So, I like responsible person who can ACT.
